About Maggie

Growing up in Scotland as an only child, I spent a lot of time alone, lost in books or playing with imaginary friends. Attracted by advertisements to ‘Come and Teach in the Sun’, I emigrated to Australia in my mid-twenties to teach primary school in Sydney. I’ve also lived in country and coastal New South Wales and worked in teaching and administration in colleges and universities.Maggie Wallace House eventedited

I’m married to a wonderful man I met while we were teaching together in university. He is from Santa Barbara in the US and this has meant many trips over there to Oregon and California which feature in my Oregon Coast Series.

We now live in Queensland on the beautiful Sunshine Coast and enjoy a relaxing beach lifestyle. I love to walk along the beach in the early morning and sip a skinny Cappuccino with my husband in a favourite café. I have three lovely stepchildren who are now grown, and seven grandchildren, two of whom live in Sydney and five in Brisbane.

I’ve always loved reading and writing, beginning with articles for my school magazine. After retiring from full time work I’ve been able to spend more time on my writing where I can bring my imaginary friends to life.

Following a career in education, I began writing romantic women’s fiction portraying mature women facing life-changing situations. My travels inspire my writing, be it visits to family in Scotland or Oregon, USA or my home on Queensland’s beautiful Sunshine Coast.

I write of mature heroines coming to terms with changes in their lives and the heroes worthy of them. My days are now spent surrounded by books, either reading or writing them – my idea of heaven!
